Project Overview
Comida Con Causa was a project designed to solve real world problems with student and local community member collaboration. We have worked with non-profits like produce good to tackle problems like food waste. Comida con causa mean food with a cause. A big part of that is learning where our food comes from and how different cultures prepare there unique cuisine. We were able to meet with local restaurant owners and food lovers from countries throughout Central and South America. We interviewed them about what there food means to them and problems in the country that either them or their parents come from, all in spanish. This gave us a great opportunity to learn an inside look of unique ways to prepare food and real life views into current problems. Other aspects of the project included cooking the food we learned about with local community members. Also, building planter boxes with fresh fruits, herbs, and vegetables. These planter boxes will be placed in low income communities with the hope that they will serve as a resource for community members.
