I found this article exceptionally helpful because of the real life insights it gave into this topic. The rule of Pinochet is an extremely controversial topic and finding an article with real life views and dialogue was very helpful when writing this research paper. It also offered some factual content that served as a great reference for writing a research paper. I was able to locate this article when we were given the opportunity to use the mesa college database. Although this is a book available to the public, there resources made it much easier to find. The most interesting part of this book was the anecdotes it offered from people who lived through this.

Through the drafts, my paper changed a lot. When I was about done with my first draft, I decided I really wasn't Intrigued by my thesis and therefore decided to change it. This means I had to revise my entire paper, tying all my body paragraphs back to my thesis. Although it created a lot of work, I’m glad I did it. After this, the revision of my paper included a lot of grammar and rephrasing sentences to sound more academic. Luke helped me develop my new thesis, so he served as a great form a critique. Kyna was also extremely helpful because she continually revised my work and gave insightful feedback, even when she had plenty of work.
This project pushed and improved me and so many ways. It helped me learn much more about the adversities that so many countries face. As well as learning about the inequalities we face here in our country. I am very proud of the planter box my group produced. We put a lot of time and thought into improving every detail of the box. Of course nothing is perfect, but I was very happy with our final product. A big part of this project was group work and collaboration with others. I felt I was able to collaborate well in a group when we understood each others roles and what every person brought to the table. Having the ability to speak to people from countries from Central and South America was amazing because it gave you a real life view into the issues they face. This human interaction really gave you a connection to the world around you. The content I felt that I mastered and the hard skill that I learned are both the art of revision. Having the ability to work through multiple drafts of work is a skill I will never forget. A smaller skill that I developed was just the ability to work in a group and not put too much pressure on everyone while still getting work done.

If I had the chance to redo this project there is a few things I would do differently. The first and main thing I would do is target group members jobs towards what they are interested in. I find this makes everyone much more motivated to get work done in the project. Another thing that I would change is out preparation for many portions of the project. When we didn’t put a lot of thought into planning parts of the project it didn’t go well. For example for one of our cooking demos we did not plan out the equipment we needed for cooking, together. This resulted in us forgetting major parts to our cooking demo and it not going very well. Overall, although the project went very well there are a few things I would have done differently.

Planter Box
We were assigned to build planter boxes for a fair sight in North Park. These planter boxes were meant to offer healthy and fresh options to local community members, that otherwise didn't have this food available to them. They would be placed around a local fair sight and would differ in size and design.

This design offered us our biggest point of design inspiration for our planter box build. We wanted something simple yet functional and this fit the parameters perfectly. It would also serve as a great piece for any corner space. We wanted to focus more on high build quality than a complex design so overall this design worked out really well.

Overall during the course of building our planter box I learned a lot about working in a group. I think our early conflict actually made us better in the end. We had to learn how to work together and get our work done. The life lessons I learned will he helpful for the rest of my life.
There were a lot of funny, golden, and frustrating parts of this project. There were a lot of funny moments throughout this project but the main ones that I remember is when we were arguing over little things and making jokes about it. Our first turning point is when we realized that we had finished the base of the planter box and looked really good. I thought we had lost it all when we had errors in our planter box that seemed impossible to fix, but we figured it out. The most surprising moment, for me, was when my group member Kendall showed us the plaque she had been working on and it looked really good. For me, the golden moment was when our planter box was completely done and it looked great. It was super satisfying to see our hard work show like that.

Food Justice Plaque
As a part of our planter box we had to have a food justice plaque on our planter box. These food justice issues would include things such as GMOs, food waste, and food inequalities. This plaque would address food justice issues in a local or national platform. It would also offer a ways that you can help these food justice issues. The topic that we were addressing was technology. These plaques were to be laser cut and put on the planter boxes
The quality of our plaque was mainly thanks to my group member Kendall. Kai and I initially took on our first draft, but there were many problems with it. There was no visually pleasing aspects to it. Also, we couldn't use the photos we wanted to because of copyright issues. Luckily we had all the necessary content and Kendall was able to create a nice looking plaque with usable photos that represent our issue.
When reflecting on the plaque I think a lot of the role of collaboration. Although we did finish with a great product, I could have helped my group members more. I was more focused on the process of building my planter box and didn't want to have to deal with illustrator. I now know that I lost out on a great opportunity to learn how to use illustrator.
If I had to redo the process of making the plaque again I would contribute more on illustrator. I know I will have to use it in the future years of high tech. I lost out on a great opportunity to use it and learn how to work it.
